Schooner Suva 1925
Our 84 year old Schooner "Suva" was designed by the very well known Yacht designer Ted Geary for his client Frank Pratt (of Pratt and Whitney Aircraft Engines). Built in China in 1925 almost entirely of old growth teak (ie, cabin, deck, 1 1/2" thick hull planking). Originally riged as a Gaff Schooner, she now uses a Staysail Schooner rig. The Port Townsend Shipwrights Co-Op recently recaulked the entire hull, replaced the Bowsprit and Boomkin in Purpleheart and rebuilt the Main and Foremasts (Sitka Spruce) and also replaced her standing rigging. She is 68ft LOA with a 14ft Beam. Specifically designed for the Pacific Northwest and British Columbia with her Classic Pilothouse and all teak interior with Cozy Diesel Heat. She has proven herself to be the Perfect Yacht for Year 'round Sailing. At 84 years She is extremely sound and ready for the next 84.
